Mochitsuki Demonstrations

Mochi is a popular Japanese treat made from sweet glutinous rice flour. Come and see how mochi is made at our live Mochitsuki Demonstration.

Using an USU, a traditional Japanese mortar, and a KINE or wooden mallet, the rice dough is pounded until it reaches the perfect texture. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try pounding mochi yourself!

Martial Arts

Our dedicated Martial Arts tent is one of the most popular attractions at Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival. Enjoy demonstrations from a range of local Adelaide groups, showcasing their skills in karate, aikido, judo and more.

Plus, if you’d like to learn more about how you can get involved with martial arts in Adelaide, our info booth located adjacent to the tent can point you in the right direction.
